Dr. Allison Silveus

Co-Founder/CEO

A Designer, Educator, Geneticist & mom who has completed research work on in-group bias, language discourse, virtual reality & genetic variants for immunology. In addition to consulting work for publishers, such as Pearson Publishing, she has designed Ready-to-Go Genetics Teaching Modules for other higher education faculty across the nation. She has assisted in coordinating a Latina STEM program, funded through several grants while engaging with other colleagues to share the impact of such programming. She is currently finishing up a doctoral degree at Texas Christian University and working at a medical school in Fort Worth, TX. Her recent research work is around intersectionality for identity development and a book chapter on leadership adaptation in response to COVID-19. She spends her spare time dancing, co-authoring work with colleagues and enjoying time with family.

Jorge Silveus

Co-Founder

A Mechanical Engineer, Designer, Graphic Designer, and holds a patent (pending) focussing on designing more efficient, durable and precise drill bits for the Oil and Gas industry. Prior publication work includes “Peak oil vs. Export Land Model”. In his spare time, he enjoys being outside, spending time with family, working with his hands, and in general enjoys improving everything around him.

Dr. Yohanis de la Fuente, PhD.

Advisor

A mother, wife, educator, and transformational leader who has completed research on language functionality in relation to identity, translanguaging, translation of science, and in-group bias. She considers being a mother and wife amongst the greatest accomplishments of her life and loves to spend time with her family and friends. Advocating for people in need is her most treasured work. She is a director of a Christian charitable foundation to support children in Honduras. Leading by example is at the center of her values to be a role model to her own children. As an educator with demonstrated leadership, she actively supports local, national, and international science education organizations (DFW-SS, TSELA, SSMA, and ASTE) by providing quality professional development to STEM and bilingual educators. Her activism has also resulted in leading grants to certify teachers in computer science in partnership with We Teach_CS Center of UT Austin. She also assisted in developing the curriculum for a Latina STEM program at Tarrant County College. She is currently an active editorial board member of the School Science and Mathematics and Innovations in Science Teacher Education journals. Her consulting research has led medical residents and doctors from UNTHSC and TTUHSC to present at conferences and produce international publications. Recently, Yohanis expanded her research skills by leading customer validation research for the business world and continues performing research to improve education in the topic of data driven decision and the impact of language in science education.

Dr. Frank Papa

Advisor

Dr. Frank Papa serves as a medical faculty member with research interest in a learning sciences-based approach to educating current medical students. His research endeavors began in 1979, and have continued on into integration of programming and math skills, that will provide a computer-based model of understanding how to diagnose patients. This computer-based model for diagnostic reasoning led to the construction of an artificial intelligence tool called KBIT. He has received numerous awards and published educational research from groups such as the AAMC, AACOM, Decision Sciences Institute, and ACEP. He has received funding from organizations including the United Stated Department of Education and NBOME. He earned his DO from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and later received a PhD in Higher Education/Computer-Based Education and Cognitive Systems from UNT.

Angela Brown

Advisor

Angela Brown holds degrees in Accounting and English, with a minor in Geology, and she is a CPA. She is a member of various professional organizations such as the Texas Society of CPA’s and the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies, Inc. (COPAS). Ms. Brown has worked for companies that specialized in manufacturing, financial services, defense and research. These companies include Northrop Grumman, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of North Texas, Associates Cash Express and Texas A&M University Research Center Integrated Ocean Drilling Program. Currently, Ms. Brown is the Accounting Manager for Vetoquinol USA Inc., an affiliate of a global veterinary pharmaceutical company headquartered in Lure, France.

Daniel Walker

Business and Legal Advisor

Daniel Walker is a former F-22 Raptor Mission Commander and Fighter Fundamentals Instructor Pilot with over 1200 hours of combined training and combat flight time. Daniel is a 2010 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. While at the Academy, he was a four-year athletic letter winner in Baseball, as well as Track and Field. He is also a graduate of Old Dominion University with a master’s degree in Public Administration. Daniel served as a fighter pilot for the rest of his career, piloting the T-6, T-38, F-16, and F-22 from 2011-2021. He graduated in the top 10% of his Undergraduate Pilot Training class, earning an F-22 Raptor assignment. Before completing the F-22 Basic Course, he graduated the Air Force Introduction to Fighter Fundamental course as the Air-to-Air Top Gun. He has since led various units, including the Alaskan Northern Aerospace Defense Region’s F-22 Combat Alert Cell. He is also one of six winners of the 2020 United States Air Force Academy’s Young Alumni Excellence Award. Walker will be attending Harvard Law School as a Juris Doctor Candidate in the class of 2024. With him will be his wife (Kelly), son (Kiowa), and daughter (Nahla). He is a motivated community servant and avid volunteer. His academic, combat, and leadership experiences have allowed him to connect with and inspire diverse groups of people across the nation.

Additionally, Michelle is an Investment Committee Member for the Revtech Equity for Women Fund, investing in women-founded, co-founded and led startups in retail technology. She is also on the Advisory Board of Theatro, an AI tech solution for workforce communications. Steve is an expert in Human Resources and is a member of the leading Human Resource Society for Human Resources (SHRM), where he works with other hiring practitioners. Steve is the Senior Vice President of Whitney Smith Company, which is a human resource consulting company located in Fort Worth Texas. His role for Unbent Inc.

PARTNERSHIPS

Unbent Inc. partnered with educational institutions such as TCU and SMU to support undergraduate students in advancing the skills needed for entry level jobs within their specific fields.

SMU Lyle School of Engineering

Computer science engineering seniors in collaboration with Unbent’s team developed and characterized the avatars needed for modules and created our minimum viable product (MVP).

Texas Christian University

Under the leadership of Unbent’s team and the Venture Builder program at TCU, graduating seniors performed our customer validation research. This is a crucial step to learn about pain points and needs of our possible customers, and tested our initial hypothesis.

A computer science intern collaborated with Unbent’s team to update our website and customized our page to be ready for supporting our modules.

Tech FortWorth

TechFW has been our mentor in the process of starting Unbent Inc. through their mcrew program. Unbent funders have found skilled mentors who have helped us move forward in making our dream come true.
